Floral Design

In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, I picked-up gardening as a way to spend more time outside.

As I began to grow a deeper relationship with the flora in my backyard and reap the bounties from my garden, I started finding ways to bring their beauty into my home.

I started drying various blooms as a way to preserve my favorite plant life for the winter months.

Through experimentation, I discovered which plants are best-suited for drying — which will keep their shape, color, and not too brittle to work with once dried — and the best time to harvest for optimal drying. I taught myself how to create wreaths, floral displays, and long-lasting installations from the preserved blooms.

During the growing season, I love working with fresh flowers growing in my garden, and occasionally, beauties from the Farmers' Market.

I also forage whenever I go for walks — in the woods, around town, even on the side of the highways — I’m always encountering so many unexpected beauties wherever I go. I love incorporating these seasonal wildness into my creations.
