For my senior thesis, I collaborated with two fellow designers. We believe that designers have the power to create change, so we wanted our thesis to be an invention, something that could do some good in the world. We created thegoodsideof.us.
As a website, it’s a place to share stories of little good deeds that people encounter daily. As an idea, it’s a revolution in what it means to make the world a better place. The purpose of thegoodsideof.us is to move people away from apathy. A small change can make a big difference, and we believe that bringing attention to the small good deeds that people are doing will bring positive effect to our society.

One of A Good Company’s side projects, an open-source type foundry, The League of Moveable Type started when we saw a thread on a popular type forum, Typophile, calling for an open-source font project. With the possibilities of what we can do with @font-face, it seemed like too good of an idea to just let die. We also realized that there are a lot of free fonts out there, but more than just giving away free stuff, being designers (and most of our work involving the web) we wanted to raise the standard of typography and design on the web. So we created an open-source type foundry, where we focus on quality not quantity, so we can provide people with hand-picked quality typefaces.
The very first typeface we added to The League's font library was Junction, a humanist san-serif typeface I had designed back in college. After that, we released League Gothic, a revival of an old classic and one of our favorite typefaces, Alternate Gothic.
Today a handful of awesome designers have helped expand both Junction and League Gothic into a different weights, creating a happy extended type family.

Keybase is a new project that Chris and Max (co-founders of OkCupid) are currently working on. Their goal is to make public-key encryption easier to use for regular folks like us. In a nut shell, Keybase is an online directory for people's public keys. On the site, you can easily create a public key if you don't already have one. You can also do different kinds of crypto actions such as: encrypt/decrypt a message, sign or verify a statement.
I helped create a branding, site design, and illustrations for Keybase. I love how fun the branding came out to be. Online security is such a serious topic anyways, it's good to get away from the norm. Plus, it's always great to be working with these guys.

DIYbio is a non-profit organization for the do-it-yourself biologist. Mackenzie Cowell, the founder of DIYbio asked us to create an identity system and illustrations that could be used by diybio.org and built upon by DIYBio's various regional groups. He wanted the final design to be extendable and support remixing by all interested parties.

Sunset Cinema is an outdoor movie experience. They show movies on a giant 60-foot screen under the stars. Or in a park. Or maybe by the beach. Sunset Cinema combines the old-time tradition of movie watching with outdoor family fun.
The new brand identity of Sunset Cinema is timeless and classic like the golden age Hollywood era, with a playful and modern twist that shows the unique outdoor aspect of Sunset Cinema.
I created an identity manual, and showed off the new Sunset Cinema identity by creating some applications, everything from stationery to signage and food packaging.

The Sidepaths team came to A Good Company with a general product idea for an online community that provides tools to gather, create, and share authentic experiences centered around hidden gems and local hangouts often overlooked by large publishers’ generic guide books.
We all have different tastes and by democratizing the publishing of travel information, Sidepaths aims to help travelers create the paths that best fit their individual interests.

How can we make a product where you can discover new people through the friends you already have? This is the kind of questions we asked at OkCupid Labs.
OkCupid Labs was a team of developers & designers led by the founders of OkCupid to expand the success of OkCupid to other non-dating areas. The goal is to build new online products in the space of people-meeting-people-online that's not related to dating.
Tallygram was one of those products. It's a Facebook game to get to know your friends (and friends of friends) better. By answering questions and sharing your opinions on all sorts of topics from religion, ethics, lifestyle, sex, you get to know your friends better, and while you're at it, you can discover new people that you might get along with.

This is a humanist sans serif typeface I designed. It's named Junction because it is where the best qualities of serif and sans serif typefaces come together. It has the hand drawn and human qualities of a serif, and still retains the clarity and efficiencies of a sans serif. It combines the best of both worlds. The process book that accompanies the poster, shows the inspirations and different stages that Junction went through, and also doubles as a type spec book.
